Jen Walsh, M.Ed., Registered Member MBACP (Accred)
I've been working for over 15 years as a counsellor for people of all ages. I am an Accredited Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and am trained to work with adults (individuals and couples) and families. I am currently only accepting clients aged 18+ (individuals, couples, families, parent support).
My initial training was in couples counselling with Relate. I then completed a Masters degree in Couples and Family Therapy in the USA, and worked for many years in community mental health. I have also worked with students in schools and higher education settings and couples/families in private practice. Please see How I work for more information about my approach to counselling.
I am a certified Shinrin Yoku (Forest Bathing) practitioner, and am currently completing a Diploma in International Forest Therapy Leadership. In 2021 I will be pursuing further training in Eco-psychology in order to deepen and enrich my nature-based work.
I have additional training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, person-centred art therapy skills, grief recovery, and Circle of Security Parenting. I am trained in Outdoor First Aid. Please ask if you have questions about any of my training and experience. What is most important to me is that you get what you need from your counselling.
I love my work and feel privileged to support clients in making positive changes. Clients have described me as warm, friendly and approachable (see some client feedback here). As part of my professional and ethical responsibility, I am committed to ongoing training, regular supervision (a requirement for BACP members), and practising good self-care. This includes lots of time in nature, creative writing, art, and exercise.
